Gumi-chan has arrived in London!

By good fortune Gumi-chan is now exhibiting at the London Paul Smith shop.

Spanning over 3m the miniature display uses 30 dolls and recreates a town set in 1961. On top of that it includes a special appearance by a ‘young Paul Smith’. Paul Smith is a great fan of Japan and first visited the country in 1970's. Since then he continues to visit a number of times every year.

Paul Smith came to Japan in 1961 and opened a shop in Kusunoki town where Gumi-chan lives’. Paul Smith was delighted with this theme when proposed to him. And thanks to many people’s assistance it could be realized.

Keeping in mind the setting of 1961, Paul Smith carefully selected the material of the shirt used in the shop window. In addition, the use of colour etc on the outside of the shop has all been the idea from Paul Smith himself.

Thanks to Paul Smith’s addition of thoroughness, that he is famous for, and his personal input of ideas into this piece of work, I truly believe it has been able to become even more wonderful.

Please do come and see this unique collaboration ‘Gumi-chan meets Paul Smith in London.
